July 7, 2010 (Los Angeles, CA) – The Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk proudly welcomes public radio station KCRW (89.9FM and KCRW.com) as radio sponsor for the event. KCRW, which broadcasts an eclectic mix of music, news, and cultural programming, will have a strong presence on the Art Walk’s footprint.

“The collaboration between The Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk and KCRW is a natural one since both are staples in the Los Angeles community,” said Executive Director of the Downtown Art Walk, Jay Lopez.

“I am thrilled that KCRW has the chance to support the vibrant community of artists and galleries downtown,” said KCRW General Manager Jennifer Ferro. “At KCRW we celebrate artistry and creativity. Just like the Art Walk, KCRW exists to bring together a community of people who love art, ideas, music and culture.”

The Downtown Art Walk is a free, self-guided tour of the many art exhibition venues in Downtown Los Angeles – commercial art galleries, museums, and non-profit arts venues. It takes place on the 2nd Thursday of every month. The Downtown Art Walk began in September 2004 and has grown enormously since, with as many as 25,000 people attending every month. Participants in the Downtown Art Walk are more than 40 galleries and museums located throughout the central downtown area, within the walkable districts centered around Gallery Row on Main and Spring Streets in the Historic Core. Most venues are open between 12-9PM.
